I like morning best-

and the unexpected bloom of a

long-sleeping orchid.

Sometimes it takes so long to open.

I like writing, too.  Except when the words come out

wrong and then everything is wrong.

If only I could delete doubt as well.

I like naps and snoring dogs always, and also rainy days.

I try to remember this:

Fear and Shadows may loom large, but they are only an illusion.

  1. I just read your piece on medium “You Should Read This Book” and I adored it. As an avid reader and not yet a parent, I can’t wait to share my love of reading with future littles ones. I love the seemingly random threads of the universe that connect you with someone else when you say “I’ve read this great book called _____” and they say “that’s my favorite!”
My husband is not a reader, but humors me when I guess the plot twist aloud part way through a thriller, so that later on I am able to confirm that I was indeed correct.
The Harry Potter series is on my “to be read” list, one of these days I’ll get around to it.
I read “My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry” and I’ve got “Ove” lined up to read soon.

    Thanks for sharing. Take care!

    • Thank so much for taking the time to respond so thoughtfully. I do, also, love those random universal threads that connect all of us–sometimes it feels as if we get little signs along the way that we are on the right path. I wish for you that you are able to share your love of books with future little ones–I can affirm that it is the best part of parenting. I used to be a teacher and it was my favorite part of teaching as well. My read aloud times went on forever–way past when they should have-because I could not bear to disappoint the kids. All of my boys love to read and we still share books we love. I credit reading to them as the reason why we are close and connected. It has been a highlight of the parenting journey. Best of luck to you and thanks again for your feedback. x
